I was born and raised in Connecticut. I moved to Port Charlotte, FL in 2019. I have an amazing guy named Ralph by my side and 3 beautiful and talented daughters; stepdaughter Zoe Christine, Gabriella and Victoria Rose.
In the field of education, I have over 30 years experience. when working with children, my goal is to bring out the creativity and willingness to learn in each and every child. Along with, the joy in a child's eye and smiling face, when I am working with them.
The things I enjoy the most when I'm not teaching are spending time with my family, going for walks and gardening.
Hi everyone, I grew up in Rochester, NY, graduated from the University of Toledo and worked in Columbus, Ohio for 27 years.
I met my husband Dave in Columbus and shortly after we were married, moved to Allentown, PA.
In PA I owned and directed my own educational childcare facility for 17 years. When my husband retired, we moved to Florida where my family lives.
I have taught at Foundations for almost 4 years now. I have taught VPK and the threes. My greatest joy is to see children learn and get excited about new ideas and concepts.
I've been working with children for over 25 years. The bulk of that has been with preschoolers. I graduated from the University of Maine in Farmington, Maine with degree in Early Childhood. I also have a degree in speech pathology and have worked as a Speech Assistant. I'm very excited to work with the three year olds.
Teaching is a passion of mine and has been since my earliest memories as a precocious five year old. It is my mission to instill a life-long love for learning in my students. My classroom philosophy and approach inspires children to learn with play-based activities that support and challenge little learners in an early childhood classroom. Social-emotional skills are also embedded throughout the day. Children learn by doing, investigating, problem-solving and exploring the world around them. I want school to be a safe place where my students feel loved, valued and confident. I have been with Foundations since January of 2015 and I feel blessed to be a part of this amazing teaching team! I have over 19 years of teaching experience in a preschool setting, which includes over 12 years as a VPK instructor. I have received my CDA and Director's Credentials and I am certified in First Aid and CPR. I am also working towards my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.I am married to my best friend and we share an amazing young man who is at Lemon Bay High School. Family is very important to me! In my spare time, if I don't have a book in my hand, I like to travel, spend time out in nature and photograph my travels and sights.
Ms. Laurel will soon be the Assistant Teacher in our Fours Class. Picture and details coming soon.
